Morning Accident In Tappan Closes Route 303

A man was seriously injured in an accident at around 9 a.m. in Tappan this morning when his van traveling southbound hit another car on Route 303 near the Stateline Restaurant causing him to veer across the lanes and crash into a tree on the opposite side of the road. The Tappan Fire Department was called to the scene for extrication and the Sparkill Fire Department set up a landing zone for a STAT flight transport at the nearby Dominican Convent. The man was then flown to Westchester Medical Center via helicopter. Police say the condition of the victim is not known at this time adding that the stretch of Route 303 from Oak Tree Road to Kings Highway is now reopened as police were on the scene investigating what may have caused the crash for the large part of the morning.
