Stony Point Hiker Airlifted From State Park After Fall

46 Year-old Stony Point resident Thomas Javanes had to be airlifted by helicopter from Hudson Highlands State Park Sunday morning after sustaining injuries from a 20-30 foot fall while hiking. Javanes was hiking alone around the Anthony Nose peak beside the Bear Mountain Bridge when his fall caused serious back and leg injuries from which he could not walk. State Park police, forest rangers, local police, and a rescue team from West Point responded to the accident when another hiker found him and called for emergency help. Javanes was transported via ambulance from the helicopter drop point to a waiting medical helicopter which brought him to Westchester Medical Center for treatment. His current condition is not available at this time.
