Spring Valley Man Charged With Recent Auto Thefts

A 22-year-old Spring Valley man was arrested on Tuesday in connection with stealing items from several cars over the past few months. According to police, Jivon Laguerre was spotted walking through the village on Tuesday when police approached him and brought him into the station. Officials said that in the Spring, there were several cars broken into, and after investigating they found Laguerre was connected to those crimes and had a warrant out for his arrest. The warrant was issued on March 26 after he stole a cell phone from one of the vehicles. In April, he also stole a pocket book with two phones, and personal papers. Police also found that he stole a wallet on the night of June 22 where he then went to a convenience store using the owners credit cards and forging their name. Laguerre is being charged with felony counts of fourth-degree grand larceny, second-degree forgery, and fourth degree criminal possession of stolen property. He also faces misdemeanor charges of petty larceny and fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property. Police are still investigating as to whether or not he is responsible for other car break-ins and thefts; Laguerre is remanded to the Rockland County Jail on $5,000 bond.
