Spring Valley Mayor Supports Oversight Bill

Spring Valley Mayor Demeza Delhomme held a press conference outside Village Hall this afternoon to voice his support of the proposed bill sponsored by Senator David Carlucci to appoint a state monitor to oversee the East Ramapo School District. “We are supporting the proposition S3821…by supporting the first resolution, that will give the state Senate ways to help us.” Delhomme with a crowd of community support including NAACP Spring Valley President Willie Trotman, Father Emile Cyprian of St. Joseph’s Church, a Representative for Assemblywoman Ellen Jaffee and various trustees, remarked that his own record reflects support for the education of all children within the community and that the “segregated board” must put the needs the children first. Having not fully reviewed Senator’s David Carlucci’s new bill to involve the state comptroller in determining whether the budget properly allocates funding to all students within the district, Delhomme only commented that the community need their voices heard before any amendments are finalized.
