Suffern Man Faces Multiple Charges After Assault

A 23-year-old Suffern man was arrested after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend over the weekend. Police say that on Saturday afternoon, Pedro Montes Ramirez kicked in the door of the home on Orange Avenue in Suffern, and began assaulting his girlfriend. Ramirez is accused of repeatedly punching his girlfriend in the head, before hitting her across the face with a barstool. Police were called to the residence just before 1:00 in the afternoon and found the woman bleeding from the face and the head. She was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital where she was treated for her injuries. Ramirez fled after the incident but was later caught by the Suffern Police when he returned to the house later that night. Ramirez is facing several charges including a felony count of second- degree assault along with misdemeanor counts of fourth- degree criminal possession of a weapon. He is also facing a criminal mischief charge for damaging the door. Ramirez is being held at the Rockland County Jail on 1,500 dollars bail.
