Boaters Warned of Additional Concrete Batch Plant at Tappan Zee Bridge

There will be more traffic on the Hudson now with the addition of another concrete batch plant to join the other two in mixing and delivering 180 cubic yards of concrete per hour. These three floating concrete batch plants will supply about 200,000 of the 300,000 cubic yards of concrete required to complete the New NY Bridge. According to the website, this will allow our roadways to remain clear of concrete trucks. On the floating plants, slag, fly ash, and cement are contained in the silos which is mixed with sand, stone, and water by the onboard crew and maneuvered by tugboat to areas it is needed along the expanse. The main task for this new and improved batch plant is to create the foundation, piers, and 419 ft. towers to begin in late summer.
