Truck Explosion In Wesley Hills Sends Driver To Hospital

The Ramapo Police Department released information regarding a truck explosion on Glenbrook Road in Wesley Hills Wednesday morning at around 9:30 a.m. The B&H Plumbing & Heating truck was carrying propane or acetylene tanks which the driver heard hissing. When he opened the rear doors the tanks exploded, engulfing the driver and truck in the flames. He was transported by the Ramapo Valley Ambulance Corps. to the Westchester Medical Center in Valhala for treatment for burns to his face and body. According to Monsey Fire Chief Rick Lagarde, it took about a dozen volunteer fire fighters to work to contain the burning the van. Ramapo Police Detectives and the Rockland County Sheriff’s department were on the scene investigating the cause of the blaze and arranged for the safe removal of the truck’s contents before being towed away.
