Sloatsburg: Lightning Causes Railroad Malfunction

The Ramapo Police Department reported that the railroad crossing gates were temporarily stuck in down position at the Mill Street MTA location in the Village of Sloatsburg. WRCR spoke with the MTA who received report of the incident at 6 a.m. this morning and went to work to replace a burned out circuit board after lightning stuck the location. The MTA Police also assisting with traffic as work was being done. Currently, the crossing gates are back in service and open to local traffic only. Local police departments are also warning residents of the heavy rain and thunderstorms expected throughout the day. Motorists should have their lights on and drive carefully and allow for extra time to reach your destinations. Drive with added caution as large puddles may be hard to spot, and flooding conditions brings debris onto the roadway. Pedestrians should use extra caution since driver visibility will be minimized.
