Victim Name Released from Deadly Accident In W. Nyack

Police released the name of the victim killed in Thursday afternoon’s crash on Route 303 in West Nyack as Vincent Careccio, 48, of Pomona. Police responded to a 2:30 p.m. call of an accident between an ambulette and a Brega Transport minibus at the exit of the Palisades Center Mall onto Route 303. The ambulette was struck on its left side as the driver attempted a left turn with the minibus heading southbound on Route 303. The major accident left four others injured, sent to Nyack Hospital for treatment and closed off a portion of Route 303 South until 10 p.m. as authorities investigated the accident. Evidence from the scene indicate the impact of the collision pushed both cars 100 feet from the original crash site. Reportedly, firefighters had to cut both drivers from their vehicles due to the severity of the impact. Police continue to investigate the accident and summonses have not been issued.
