Hit And Run Victim Dies, Suspect May Receive Greater Charge

The 47 year-old bicyclist hit late Saturday evening has died from injuries he sustained when 32 year-old Robert Faist of New City allegedly hit him with his Jeep and left the scene of the accident. The victim whose name has not been released, died at Nyack Hospital, admitted in critical condition with head injuries, as well as injuries to his torso and leg. Officers responded to an alleged hit and run at around 2AM on Route 304 in New City, to find the victim the side of the street, suffering from serious injuries and the driver no where to be seen. Using pieces of the car as evidence police tracked down a black Jeep and arrested Faist later that evening for their part in the accident. Police will determine whether to charge Faist with a greater charge, initially receiving a felony count of leaving the scene of an accident.
