Police Reopen Ramapo Park After Bear Sightings

Police have reopened Manny Weldler Park in Ramapo after they were forced to close it on Sunday when crowds started forming to watch a mother-bear and her three cubs playing in the area. Police stated that they shut the park for safety reasons, and by the time the DEpartment of Environmental Conservation arrived to tranquilize and transport the bears elsewhere it was too dark to risk doing so. Now that the bears are no longer on park property police have reopened it, and state that they are hopeful the bears returned to the woods, but the public should remain aware, especially in that area, since their exact locations are not known,. Officials warn that people do not approach wild animals and never feed them.
