2nd Incident In A Month At Chappaqua Railroad Crossing

In Chappaqua this morning, a motorist broke the crossing arm at the Roaring Brook Road railroad intersection which took half-an-hour to repair. Earlier this month, a Mount Kisco woman also snapped the crossing arm at the same grade crossing seconds before avoiding a collision with an oncoming train. Officials continue to emphasize that drivers should wait to proceed through a grade crossing until they are certain they will not obstruct the tracks. The Roaring Brook Road intersection is unique in that it is located just feet before the Saw Mill Parkway entrance. State and local officials have been working since the February 3rd tragedy in Valhalla to secure funding and increase awareness to make grade crossings safer.
