Bullying Accusations Investigated in Spring Valley Stabbing

According to a story in The Journal News on police reports regarding the stabbing at Spring Valley High School on Tuesday morning, there were no complaints of bullying filed with the school prior to the incident. Public Defender to 16-year old Christopher Bermeo, who was arrested and charged with attempted murder after he allegedly stabbed the 17-year old victim four times with a pen-knife, stated that the young man claimed he was being bullied by the victim and was defending himself at the time. School officials stated to the newspaper that there were no records of bullying between the two, and they will be increasing security, including random searched of students’ bags and lockers. The investigation is continuing to uncover the cause of the boys’ arguments and why they turned violent, while Bermeo is being held in Rockland County Jail on $500,000 bail and the unidentified victim is recovering from the wounds.
