Spring Valley HS Student Charged with Attempted Murder

According to police a 16-year old Spring Valley High School student was arrested yesterday in the stabbing of a 17-year old student that took place in the school’s halls around 9:00 AM. Christopher Bermeo was apprehended at his home, after being identified by the victim who suffered four stab wounds to his arm, back, shoulder, and abdomen. The school was immediately put into lockdown and the unidentified boy was taken to Nyack Hospital and according to officials was not in life threatening condition, though the puncture wounds were all very deep. Bermeo was taken into custody and arraigned before a Village judge Tuesday afternoon and pleaded not guilty to a charge of attempted murder. Public Defender Andre Vital stated that his client was defending himself and claims that the victim was bullying him at the time of the incident. Bermeo is being held on $500,000 bail, he will apparently be charged as an adult in the case.
