Truck Catches Fire in Sloatsburg

Firefighters responded to a truck fire on Thursday afternoon. After receiving calls that the cargo truck’s engine had burst into flames, Rockland departments arrived to find the cab of the truck engulfed. The two men driving the truck were on their way to Boston and had stopped at the rest area on the Thruway, leaving the truck idling due to the cold. The driver told News 12 reporters that he is thankful he and his partner stopped to get out of the truck for a break and were not pulled over to sleep when the engine caught. Firefighters were able to put out the flames and all that was left was melted cab, and they continue to investigate the official cause.
