Governor Cuomo Urging Higher Minimum Wage

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced Tuesday that he will continue pushing for a raise in the state’s minimum wage. Speaking with officials in Buffalo earlier this week the Governor stated that his proposed budget would create $4 billion in wages which in turn would support the economy, while helping 100,000 individuals currently living in poverty. Statewide the minimum wage is set to rise to $9 an hour at the end of the year and is currently $8.75. Cuomo stated that he would like to raise minimum wage for workers to $10.50 an hour and $11.50 in New York City.
