Cuomo Will Fund Jobs, Local Governments To Do The Rest

In response to the request for $2.5 billion in upstate economic development aid instead of his proposed $1.5 billion, Governor Andrew Cuomo cites jobs as economic success not more state funding. Cuomo states that funding job development would lead to more people and higher tax revenue so that local governments can support themselves. The proposed funds would be allocated to three regions in a state-wide competition with many believing it would serve as a catalyst toward future growth.

Three years ago, the city of Buffalo received $1 billion under Cuomo to go towards development overhaul of which $853.9 million has already been allocated and will generate $5.37 billion in private investment and an expected 4,550 jobs.
