Anti-Heroin Media Soon To Be Seen Throughout The State

New York is fighting drug use in the continuation of the ‘Combat Heroin’ campaign announced by Governor Andrew Cuomo last fall. According to the announcement, for the next month the state will be advertising the prevention of drug and alcohol abuse through commercials, both online and on television, targeting ads on social media and billboards. In recent years, deaths from heroin overdoses in Rockland County have increased dramatically and Cuomo stated that much of the time, addiction to the drug begins with the abuse of others and often alcohol as well. The posters that will appear throughout the county at various train stations and malls, will show images of pills and beer bottles with the words, “Heroin addiction starts here.” Officials stated that the idea is to spread the message of drug addiction and give people the means to prevent it. The posters will also list the website, combatheroin.ny.gov and the New York State’s addiction hotline number (877) 8HOPENY.
