Lacey Spears Trial Doctors Take the Stand

As the case against Chestnut Ridge mother Lacey Spears continues, doctors who cared for her son Garnett before his death are taking the stand. On Wednesday two of the five-year old boy’s doctors testified, stating that his sodium levels were normal when he entered the hospital and rose dramatically after three days into his stay in January of 2014. Soon after the young boy was pronounced brain dead, from what prosecutors are claiming to be fatal doses of sodium delivered by Spears through a feeding tube from which he received many of his nutrient. The doctors stated on the stand that the rise in sodium levels were inexplicable and ultiately led to Garnett’s death. The trial will continue in Westchester County Court today.
