Lowey and Cuomo Announce Funds To Be Made Available for Westchester

Congresswoman Nita Lowey of the 17th District together with Governor Cuomo announced funds to be made available for Westchester housing and public works. In a statement released by the Governor, “This funding is an important resource for local government and non-profit organizations in Westchester County that provide everything from affordable housing to public works improvements for their communities.” Areas previously excluded from the Westchester County Consortium with receive grants from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development through the State. Approximately $5 million will be directed to projects including residential water/wastewater projects and structural improvements to public facilities. Likely, jobs will also see a bump from small business development. $600,000 will go toward Emergency Shelter Grants for use on shelters and transitional housing for the homeless. $900,000 is set for the HOME Investment Partnership Program to rehab affordable housing available for rent or to own.
