Possible Ferry in Nyack

The Village of Nyack is considering the addition of a ferry for commuters. Officials stated that traffic studies would be done to find a landing site that could handle parking for commuters and the traffic that would be created. Mayor Jen Laird-White stated that the plan would offer another option than taking mass transit across the new Tappan Zee Bridge, and would allow people to go to Tarrytown, or even Manhattan, without having to drive. There are those who disagree with plans for the ferry, some residents and officials stating that the lack of parking and narrow streets would create problems for the village. The plans are being looked at by both Westchester and Nyack officials, though the study, once started, will be more than a year away from completion.
