County Reacts to NYPD Shootings

Rockland County officials are reacting to the weekend shooting of two police officers in New York City that resulted in their deaths and the self inflicted death of the gunman. County Executive Ed Day released a statement that he is ordering the flags be at half-staff today pay respects to officers Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos. Day stated, “This cowardly act of senseless violence underscores the dangers faced by law enforcement every day.” The New York City Police Department is initiating a directive to protect officers that require them to wear bulletproof vests, patrol in sets of three, and always respond to calls with two cars. Rockland PBA President Phil Fantasia and Sheriff Louis Falco also expressed their sadness for the families of the officers and the department.
