Investigations into Tappan Zee Bridge Silo Collapse

According to a spokeswoman for Tappan Zee Constructors, the company working on the new Tappan Zee Bridge, Carla Julian, concrete production remains suspended after two silos containing building materials fell when hit by a third silo that collapsed on Tuesday morning. Spokeswoman for the Department of Environmental Conservation, Wendy Rosenbach, stated to the Journal News that $1,000 gallons of stone and sand were released into the air from the silo, which collapsed onto the floating barge that holds the concrete production plant at 6:45 AM. The DEC closed their side of the investigation, but the investigation by the company and state are continuing to uncover how the first silo went down. No injuries were reported from the first incident, or when the two silos fell shortly after at 10:00 AM and construction on other parts of the project has continued.
