Man Convicted of Murder in Last Year’s Christmas Eve Death

A man charged in the murder of a woman on Christmas Eve last year was seen in court on Wednesday. In 2013, Deborah Burns was found murdered in her Spring Valley home and police arrested a homeless man, Juan Perez-Coira who was staying nearby. Judge James Hubert ruled that Perez-Coira was guilty of second-degree murder and an attempted criminal sex act stating that there was not enough evidence to find the man guilty of raping Burns. Police found the victims blood and Perez-Coira’s semen in his underwear when he was arrested though the man claimed not to touch Burns the night she died. Perez-Coira will return to court March 3rd where he will receive his sentence.
