O and R Impersonator Attempts Invasion of Home

According to Clarkstown police, a man attempted to get into a home in Congers on friday evening, by pretending to be an employee of Orange and Rockland Utilities. Police stated that a 22-year old woman answered the door of the home to find a man about 40-years old about 5 feet 8 inches in height, wearing an orange jacket, with an orange van parked outside asking her to let him inside to check the meter. The woman reported that she told the man where the meter was located outside of the house and locked the door, after which the man left. Police are warning residents that they should always be aware of who is at the door and ask to check the employee ID’s that every O and R worker is required to wear, with a picture, name, and logo on it, and if the resident is still suspicious, call the police or company.
