Ramapo Ordered to File Ward Election Appeal

According to Robert Romanowski and Michael Parietti, activists who filed petitions with the state Supreme Court bringing to light possible improprieties with the Ramapo ward referendums, a judge ruled this week that the town needs to file appeals by December 3. The town of Ramapo announced that they would be filing to appeal Justice Margaret Garvey’s decision to throw out the votes from a special election held on September 30, that would decide whether or not town residents would choose representatives based on where they live and change the number of board members from four to six. Garvey ordered a permanent hold be put in place on the votes from the special election and that the official appeal must be filed by December 3.
