House Fire in Airmont

Police stated Tuesday that volunteers from the Tallman, Monsey, Suffern, and Mahwah, New Jersey Fire Departments responded to a call on Monday night for a house fire in Airmont. Around 11:00 PM officers and firefighters arrived at the home at Gayle Court to find flames coming from the second story and reaching the roof. The cause of the fire is still unknown but is being inspected by the Rockland Sheriff’s Department, Airmont Fire Inspector, and the Ramapo Police, and officials were made aware of the lack of smoke detectors in the home. According to police the homeowner’s son was inside with a babysitter at the time but both made it out unharmed, though the house was left uninhabitable and the family was assisted by the Redcross.
