Police Officer Saves Woman from Fire

Ramapo Police Officer Mike Anton responded to a call in Chestnut Ridge on Friday afternoon and arrived at the scene of a house fire on Pinebrook Road. Anton was the first to arrive and entered the locked home, reports stating that he found a 98-year old woman conscious but immobile on the kitchen floor due to a fall. Monsey Fire Department arrived at the address as Anton was getting the woman through the door, and provided him with a fire extinguisher to fight the flames and smoke with the help of volunteers. The woman, whose name was not included in reports was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital and treated for minor injuries. Ramapo Detectives and the Ramapo Town Fire Inspector were investigating the fire and have determined that it was isolated to the kitchen and most likely started from one of the appliances.
