DJ Arrested In Sex Scandal Dies

The U.S. Marshall’s Service stated on Thursday that the 78-year old former DJ for WNEW’s “Rock & Roll” morning show, Dave Herman died while waiting for his July 28 trial in New Jersey. Herman was arrested last year when he was caught in an undercover operation trying to set up a meeting with a woman and her young daughter in his home in the Virgin Islands. Herman met the pair on a website on which his profile stated he was interested in “other incest families, mothers involved with their children and all extreme or unusual family relationships.” Herman was being held without bail after pleading guilty in March to charges of attempting to transport a minor with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity and was waiting for his sentencing of ten years to life in prison and a fine of up to $250,000. Essex County spokesman Anthony Puglisi stated Thursday that Herman complained of chest pains and was taken to University Hospital Wednesday night, where he died around 11:00 Thursday morning. An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the official cause of death.
