Judge Rules to Suspend Patrick Farm Proposal

A State Supreme Court Judge ruled this week to suspend plans for 500 houses on Patrick Farm. Justice Thomas Walsh sent plans back to the Ramapo Planning Board stating that the State Department of Environmental Conservation and Rockland Sewer District No. 1 are unable to issue permits until the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers reviews the wetlands on the property along Route 202 and 306. The Planning Board approved the plans in March 2013, though they were opposed by the group Ramapo Organized for Sustainability and a Safe Aquifer, or ROSA. Suzanne Mitchell, ROSA’s Director stated that the decision will hopefully help the board to understand what the group has been fighting for, and what a wetland expert found the developer wasn’t reporting the full size of the wetlands on the property. Ramapo Town Attorney Michael Klein released an email stating that there were no faults in the Planning Board’s applications but they were recommended to have the DEC and Sewer District review the wetlands.
