Arson in Spring Valley

A fire in Spring Valley on Wednesday morning was found by investigators to have been set by the woman who lived in the home while her husband was asleep inside. According to Detective Sargent Jim Noble 56-year old Sandra Sanichar was arrested when police and fire fighters responded to a call at 2:40 AM that smoke was coming from the garage and flames were spreading from the back to the front of the house. Police suspect that she used gasoline to start the fire after having a fight with her husband, Seeram Sanichar. No injuries were reported from the fire, and the husband was lucky to be alive, since the home did not have a working smoke detector. According to Spring Valley Assistant Fire Inspector, Frank Youngman, the couple will most likely be receiving a summons for illegally altering the garage into a living area. Sanichar was charged with felony counts of second-degree arson and first-degree reckless endangerment and was released after posting $5,000 bail.
