Haverstraw Man Indicted on Murder Charges

A 37-year old Haverstraw man has been indicted on charges of killing his longtime girlfriend, after she attempted to end their ten-year relationship. On May 7 Nixon Bourguignon was arrested when police responded to the apartment he shared with 29-year old Shannon Coleman and her two sons, and found her dead by strangulation and Bourguignon hiding in a closet with apparent self-inflicted wounds to his arms and throat. The two boys had been asleep in the apartment but were not physically injured and didn’t witness the attack. Bourguignon is being held at the Rockland County Jail awaiting arraignment. He was indicted on a felony charge of second-degree murder and faces 25-years to life in prison.
