Former Ramapo School Official Admits to Doctoring Records

During a pretrial hearing for a case against former Rockland Legislator an Hillburn Mayor, Brian Miele, investigators came forward with a statement in which Miele admitted to approving educational credits for his wife, Cathy Revicki, a middle school social studies teacher, and his daughter, Kristin Leigh Nicholson, a second-grade teacher at Cherry Lane Elementary. Miele stated that he abused his position in the Ramapo Central School District as Assistant Superintendent when he gave Nicholson fifteen extra teaching credits which raised her salary from $90,604 in 2008 to $105, 359 in 2010, as well as doctoring records of other teachers to give them higher salraries. Prosecutors stated that the actions cost taxpayers 2.6 million dollars. Miele’s Attorney, Gerard Damiani, stated at the Tuesday hearing that they are moving to have the statement suppressed because they claim detectives did not have probable cause when they asked Miele in for questioning in 2011. Miele faces up to 25 years in state prison.
