Tappan Zee Bridge Meeting

According to Brian Conybeare, one of Governor Andrew Cuomo’s special advisers for the Tappan Zee Bridge project, the six viewing areas being built along the pedestrian and bike paths will include stainless steel netting to prevent deaths by jumping on Thursday officials on the 3.9 billion dollar project announced to Rockland residents that the net will be out of eyesight at each of the viewing areas, which will be on the North side of the bridge, and the restrooms of the walkway will have an anti-climbing fence. Also at the meeting held Thursday questions were once again raised about the future use of Interchange 10 in South Nyack, which will be used as an equipment base camp for the constructors until 2018. The Interchange is one of the options for a parking area and restrooms for visitors using the path, the other is to demolish the town hall in South Nyack and rebuild, though the state recently declared the building is historic and multiple steps would need to be taken to tear it down.
