Coyote Sightings

According to authorities there were numerous sightings of a coyote in Orangeburg on Monday. The coyote was caught and shot by Orangetown police after someone reported a bite, but an alert was issued to remind residents to be on the look out for aggressive animals and not to approach, often they are not afraid of people. The alert stated that pets should be indoors, especially after dark, and when walked remain on a leash shorter than six feet if a person comes across a coyote they should make loud noises, if the noises don’t scare the animal away leave the area and call Orangetown Police at 845-359-3700.
