Congers Bond Passes

The Clarkstown School District announced the unofficial results of the Congers bond vote at 11:30 Tuesday night. According to officials the 6.5 million dollar bond passed 3,411 to 2,362 votes. This means that the district will now be able to borrow the money to fix the aging school building’s back wall, windows, and roofs, as well as removal of asbestos and additions that will get the building up to date with the Americans with Disabilities Act. The bond will cost residents $26 a year, and will lead to the 240 students currently attending classes at St. Augustine’s School, moving back into the 86- year old building. According to District Clerk, Regina Ball, the line to get into the Lakewood Elementary polling location was “out the door”.
