Congers Bond Vote

Residents of the Clarkstown School District will be voting today on a 6.5 million dollar bond that will allow the rebuilding of Congers Elementary School. If the bond passes the 86- year old building will have its back wall reconstructed, asbestos removed, and windows and roofs replaced. The bond passage would cost a home assessed by the town at $140,000, $26 a year. According to officials if the bond does not pass it will save the district 1.25 million dollars a year to close the school and redistrict students to nearby lakewood and New City Elementary Schools. The polls are open from 7:00 AM to 9:PM and the results will be announced at a 10:00 meeting tonight at the Chestnut Grove Administrative Center. Polling places include Lakewood Elementary, Clarkstown North High School, West Nyack Elementary, and Link Elementary.
