Investigations Into Five- Year Old Boy’s Death

Westchester Police are working with the Ramapo Police Department to investigate the death of a young Chestnut Ridge boy, who was admitted to Nyack Hospital for a stomach virus and was transferred to Westchester Medical Center where he died on January 16. The Westchester District Attorney’s office stated that the Medical Examiner completed an autopsy and they are waiting for toxicology reports, though as of now there are no physical signs of foul play. According to matt Uppenbrink, the Assistant Administrator of the Fellowship Community where five- year old Garnett Spears was living for the past year with his mother, 26- year old Lacey Spears who worked with the seniors there, the boy was lively but suffered from chronic dietary and ear problems. Police have no potential suspects, but according to the child’s aunt it is procedural for police to investigate these situations and her sister is a loving mother whose son was quote, “Her whole life.” End quote.
