County Executive Continues Rebuilding His Team

County Executive Ed Day has added five new positions since the start of his term on January 1, and terminated six, cutting salary costs by $61,000. So far the positions cut have been Chief of staff, Communications Director, Research Assistant, Director of Government Relations, and the Tourism Coordinator. According to Chairman of the Legislature Alden Wolfe the County Executive is entitled to staffing his office his way, and that he is hoping for officials to work together to run county government more smoothly. New positions include Deputy County Executive, Guillermo Rosa, earning $126,900 a year; Chief Advisor, Dan Moscato, earning $59,900 a year; Public Policy and Intergovernmental Relations Director Stephen Powers,earning $87,700; and Strategic Communications Director, Scott Salotto, with a salary of $79,000 a year.The position of Director of Economic Development, which will pay $85,000 has yet to be filled. Also in the changing administration Day named three people as acting County Executive, County Purchasing Director Paul Brennan as first, County Fire and Emergency Services Director Gordon Wren as second, and County Personnel Commissioner Joan Silvestri as third.
