Clarkstown Officials Filing Suit Against Bloggers

A lawsuit has been filed with the State Supreme Court by Clarkstown politicians against two local writers for online blogs, Michael Hull of Bardonia and Anthony Mele of Chestnut Ridge, for allegedly posting stories that confuse opinions with facts. The suit, filed by Rockland County Legislator Frank Sparaco, Republican Chairman Vincent Reda, CLarkstown Highway Superintendent Wayne Ballard, and Mark Mondelli, the owner of a New City equipment shop, states that the blogs have spread false allegations of voter intimidation, corruption and patronage positions, and that they manipulated absentee ballot results. According to Duncan Rogers Lee, the lawyer representing the plaintiffs, true statements written a certain way can be defamatory, and the blogs represented his clients in a criminal manor. The suit is requesting that the court stop Mele and Hull from writing untrue statements about the plaintiffs and leaves the decision of financial damages to the judge.
