Holiday time is well-known for its festivity and many look forward to decorating their homes with colorful, electric lights. Orange and Rockland Utilities wants people to be safe when stringing the decorations in and outside the home and has some advice for those that do. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission says more than 12,000 people are treated in emergency rooms for injuries related to holiday lights and trimmings. Make sure the wires on older light sets aren’t frayed and replace them if they are damaged. Also, don’t overload household electric outlets with multiple plugs on multiple plugs.
