2018 NYS Primary Results

Primaries were held in Rockland and across the state yesterday. Locally, incumbent State Senator David Carlucci defeated high school English teacher Julie Goldberg by about 2,000 votes. In Spring Valley, Zach Clerina won the Democratic line for one seat on the Village Board of Trustees. In a tight race in Suffern, Republicans Gina Bertolino and James Russo earned the two spots for village trustee seats.

The Democratic Party’s nod for Governor with nearly two-thirds of the vote is the incumbent, Andrew Cuomo. Actress Cynthia Nixon conceded the race early in the evening. The winner will face Dutchess County Executive Republican Marcus Molinaro in November. Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul staved off a challenge from New York City councilman Jumaane Williams. New York City Public Advocate Letitia James topped the list of four candidates vying for attorney general.
