Pomona Man Arraigned on Attempted Murder Charges

A 24 year-old Pomona man was arraigned yesterday on charges he tried to kill his ex-girlfriend and her boyfriend in a senseless, jealous attack. Rockland County District Attorney Tom Zugibe said Brandyn Johnston faces two counts of second degree attempted murder, three counts of first degree burglary and other charges following last month’s attack. Zugibie said Johnston threatened the couple via text message before kicking in the door of the woman’s home, stabbing both victims. The boyfriend suffered a punctured lung and had to undergo emergency surgery. Johnston faces a maximum of 25 years in state prison on the top charge.
