Ramapo Ward Referendum Date Set

The Town of Ramapo Board recently approved a resolution proposed by petitions sent around by local activists Michael Parietti and Robert Romanowski requesting a vote for a ward system and increase in board members be put on the ballot in this year’s election. According to Parietti the board decided on Thursday to set referendums to allow residents the chance to discuss and vote on the proposals. The referendums will take place from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM on September 30 at all available town polling sites. The change to a ward system would mean that board members will be voted on from specific areas in Ramapo, not townwide, while the other proposal would change the number of members from four to six and Parietti stated that the seven member voting team would reduce tax hikes. Board members Patrick Withers, Daniel Friedman, and Yitzchok Ullman, as well as Supervisor St. Lawrence voted yes for the resolution with Brendel Logan absent.
