Tappan Zee Constructors have stopped work on the new bridge project for the time being. According to Bonnie Christian, Mayor of South Nyack, she was not informed that mitigation tests were being done at the site, which created high noise levels above the agreed maximum of 90 decibels. The construction team has been researching ways to keep the noise down for neighbors of the project for the past week and a half, suspending work. Christian stated that she has received multiple complaints of work going on, though it was supposedly suspended, Tappan Zee Constructors Spokeswoman Carla Julian stated that all work on the Rockland shores has been and will be on hold until a solution is found, and they are currently using a noise wall and testing the idea of using a vibratory hammer and shrouded pile driver.
