According to the Ramapo Police Department they are still searching for a Pomona man who went missing on Friday afternoon. Sargent Mike Higgins with Ramapo Police stated that 50- year old Peretz Sontag made suicidal comments before being seen driving away from his home in a 2012 black Kia Optima. Police are working with New York State Park Police as well, since the investigation began police got a signal from Sontag’s phone on Friday afternoon near Stony Point and Harriman State Park, and after that the phone seemed to have been shut off. Park Police stated that they had officers and volunteers search Harriman on Monday, turning up no evidence. friends of Sontag, who is a part of the tight- knit Orthodox community of Monsey, have stated that they were shocked at hearing news that he had made comments of self- harm.
