Investigations are currently taking place to uncover why a Transport of Rockland bus caught fire in Pearl River on Saturday morning. Carol Breen, a spokeswoman for the state Department of Transportation stated that the department and Orangetown Police will be looking at every part of the bus to figure out what may have caused the fire and the investigation would begin either Monday or today. According to Dave O’Brien, Pearl River’s Fire Chief, the fire seems to have started in the back of the bus, which was corroborated by the driver, who smelled smoke and evacuated all of the ten passengers before the bus broke into full flames. Spokeswoman for Rockland County Department of Public Transportation Susan Meyer stated that the bus had just had its $3,000 mile inspection that Thursday.
