The New York Senate is reviewing a bill that would prohibit third- party vendors from obtaining access to student’s information through the online program inBloom, without parental consent. The bill is cosponsored by Senator David Carlucci and is targeting the fear that he information could become compromised and the pressure that come to students from potential colleges and employers. Carlucci stated that he will be holding a news conference at 1:30 this afternoon at the Nyack High School Library and his support for the bill will be one of his main focuses for the upcoming Senate session. Student’s names and addresses as well as academic information, parental contacts, disciplinary records, and demographics will become available on January 15.
