On Wednesday Republican Ed Day was sworn in as the first new County Executive in twenty years at a ceremony at the Fire Training Center in Pomona. After the inauguration Day stated that he would be starting work immediately, dealing first with the county’s storm response for the expected blizzard on Friday and working on obtaining a sixty day extension to review contracts the county holds with private vendors, with plans to permanently terminate any contract that does not allow the extension. Next he will look into the hirings and transfers that occurred within the county and why they were made. Day thanked voters and supporters and promised to work with all levels of government to deal with the 127 million dollar deficit, issues in schools, property taxes, and overdevelopment.
