Haverstraw Police began a new search for 73-year old Eugene Palmer, a suspect in the 2012 murder of his daughter- in- law Tammy Palmer. Palmer has been missing since September 24 when Tammy Palmer was found dead from a shotgun wound on the family property. On Monday the department searched Harriman State Park woods with cadaver tracking dogs. In 2012 Palmer left his parked car just outside of the woods and has not been seen since. According to Lt. Martin Lund officers search the woods every few months but no evidence has been found. Palmer’s family believes that the elderly man died in the woods as he suffered from diabetes, heart problems, dementia, and other health issues. Police have been searching various leads including the woods and friend’s homes upstate incase Palmer is alive and in hiding. According to Lund the investigation remains open and Palmer has been indicted on second degree murder charges.
